Women face unique challenges and workplace barriers that may impact their career decisions. Using career approaches such as focusing on strengths and increasing work engagement can help accelerate women’s careers. In this session, we will highlight research and hear from panelists that have flourished within the UCSF community as a result of self-advocacy and having sponsored, or been sponsored by others in health science fields.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:

· Understand challenges that women face in the workplace
· Identify career strategies that benefit women in their career advancement
· Distinguish between a mentor versus a sponsor and learn ways to cultivate a sponsor
